E-mail Print
The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) signed a resolution, on the 3rd of June 2010, urging the East African Community (EAC) states to halt the signing of EU-EAC Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) until revisions are made to the framework agreement. EALA is calling for a revision on issues such as; subsidization, unfair competition and stringent protectionist policies. An official letter has also been signed by the EAC Ambassadors to the United Nations (UN) and World Trade Organization (WTO), urging the Framework EPAs not to be signed in its current form. In the letter, they insist that alternative approaches must be explored. For the official letter and full resolution read more.
