In 2006, Malawi saw a significant improvement in its harvest and had an increase in market supply of maize and other food stuffs. The Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee (MVAC) released its findings and estimated that 833,000 people were at risk of food insecurity in that current consumption period.
