Dialogue on loan contraction and debt management and development in SADC

In February 2006, civil society and the SADC Parliamentary Forum critically discussed issues on loan contraction and debt management and development in the SADC region. In the statement that they released they committed themselves to working together and sharing information. And made a call to governments to be cautious and set up debt management committees. Governments were also urged to “carefully consider project sustainability before loans are approved” and “ensure Parliaments and CSOs are included in debt policy formulation and management.”
