The) submitted a letter to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) explaining its position on Apartheid Debt. The letter was submitted in October 1997 and stated that the of the TRC “would be deficient without giving attention to the financing of apartheid, which provided the means and opportunities for the perpetration of gross human rights violations which occurred within and beyond the borders of South Africa.” AIDC explain in this article that their concern with bringing this up “lies with the issue of reconciliation and economic justice.”
