‘They felt they had the right to have their voices heard’
Some 14 000 small-scale farmers in Guatemala have signed a petition calling on governments to urgently prioritize the issue of chronic hunger. Signing sessions were held across 16 municipalities as the worldwide petition drive known as “The 1billionhungry project” was brought direct to those with first-hand experience of hunger. The campaign, backed by FAO, WFP, IFAD, Bioversity International and nongovernmental organizations in many countries, aims to collect 1 million signatures by the end of October. Read more.
